Biographical Notes

I do have some scientific credentials—a BA in zoology from Pomona College (1958), and an MS in entomology from Michigan State University (1980). With my Pomona degree, I thought I could perhaps teach biology. With my MSU degree, I was going to save the world from pesticides. Neither happened. Instead of teaching biology, I got married and had four children in six years. Instead of saving the world from pesticides, I became a technical writer, though not without first becoming the director of Urban Gardening in inner city Detroit (1980).

In the midst of all of this, I divorced my first husband and married my current husband of 41 years (who contributed a son to the family); worked at diverse jobs, including a city planning project in Los Angeles; and lived on a farm in Michigan where I raised all of our food—even made soap!

As a technical writer, my topics have included truck repair, document management, payroll services, DNA separation and drug screening technology, confocal laser microscopy, patient care management, and much more.
